ATAMINA- Sycophantic Friends - LP - MAKKUM RECORDS / RED WIG
Another discovery from Ghana#s Kologo music scene, and Atamina is one of its most radically socio-critical and political protagonists. He had already a collaborative track with KING AYISOBA on "This Is Kologo Power!", and one of his songs was featured as well on MOJO magazines "Revolution Blues" compilation. Stripped-down hypnotic beats and obnoxious rants. https://atamina.bandcamp.com/releases

KING AYISOBA- Modern Ghanaians - LP - MAKKUM RECORDS
Another outstanding release on Arnold de Boers (ZEA/THE EX) label! A selection of the best songs by KING AYISOBA, previously released on cassettes and CDs, for the first time ever on vinyl! KING AYISOBA is a star in Ghana, but almost unknown in Europe, and the idea for this album came when touring Europe together with ZEA in 2012. Mixing Ghanaian music, played with traditional instruments, with modern elements (like Hip Hop and Dancehall) and electronic beats, bleeps and basses, it's a great document of African traditions being confronted with the influences of western civilization and resulting in new lifestyles.

PRINCE BUJU- We Are In The War - LP - MAKKUM RECORDS / RED WIG
Prince Buju from Ghana is singing and playing the Kologo, a primitively made lute-guitar. His music is stripped-down, raw and direct, energetic and intense. It's not Punk-Rock, but it's Punk... Really interesting and impressive! If you like KING AYISOBA, you'll love this one as well!

V/A- THIS IS ZOLOGO BEAT - LP - MAKKUM RECORDS
Following "THIS IS KOLOGO POWER", here's a new sampler compiled by Arnold De Boer (THE EX, ZEA), featuring the dance music of Ghana's Upper East. A mix of local rhythms and melodies played on traditional instruments, mixed with samples, programmed electro beats. The main language on this album is Fare Fare (also known as Frafra), the regional language in Ghana's Upper East region, and "Zologo" means crazy. https://makkumrecords.bandcamp.com/album/this-is-zologo-beat
